360° VR Integration & Virtual Showroom Expansion

Challenge

Alcon needed an upgrade to its Alcon World VR application in order to:
  • Clearly communicate complex contact lens technologies (e.g., Water Gradient, Smart Tears).
  • Improve customer education and sales enablement through immersive experiences.
  • Expand the existing VR platform with:
    • Three high-end 360° animated videos.
    • An interactive product portfolio zone.
    • Overall visual upgrades to increase realism and appeal.
These additions would support both external sales presentations and internal educational efforts, helping to simplify scientific messaging while engaging users emotionally.

Our Solution

We delivered a hybrid VR upgrade, consisting of both new interactive content and visual refinements to the existing experience. The project was structured into five main components:

1. 360° VR Videos (x3)

Each video focused on one of Alcon’s key innovations, providing an immersive and intuitive explanation:
  • Water Gradient Technology
    Shows how moisture retention works through layered lens material—highlighting all-day comfort.
  • Smart Tears Technology
    Demonstrates interaction with the tear film to stabilize comfort and visual clarity.
  • Precision Balance 8/4 Design
    Visualizes lens design and its role in stabilizing orientation—especially important for astigmatism.

  • Spatial audio and voice-over narration
  • Optimized for standalone VR performance

2. Interactive Product Family Area

A new section within the Unity-based Alcon World VR environment, showcasing the complete product lineup.
Features:
  • Clickable products with visual and textual information
  • Immersive space for brand storytelling
  • Simple UX for easy navigation

3. Visual Enhancements Across the VR App

Features:
  • Shader upgrades for materials
  • Dynamic lighting improvements
  • Texture optimization for VR performance
  • Performance tuning for Quest and PICO devices
